My Clavicle Still Bleeds

by Mahal Ko Kuya Ko   Jun 18, 2015

This is a lonely hallway,
but I have walked on this
a hundred times before...
with elegy, February,
storied eyes, fragmented thoughts,
and mid-autumn skies.

Serene days...
Yes, I long for serene days --
the waves aren't weeping,
massacres only occur on summer skies,
and destiny is as dry
as mangoes seared under
robust flames.

My collar bone doesn't hurt anymore,
but it still cries and weeps and bellows.
And I'm sorry if I will write
about your footsteps again.
I just can't forget the promises they harboured
one February night.

I still hope it's not hatred...
just apathy.
I am still stuck in that summer night dream --
an orphaned Chrysanthemum
that longs for

serene days...
yes, I long for serene days.

Nominated, wow dashiel, this poem is wonderful, It seems to be about the loneliness that surrounds us. You used to walk that hallway or house a million times but without this person in your life it is more difficult to do so. The days of happiness are now far gone and you must write about the sadness you feel within yourself. You long for those days to come back to you but you know you must move on from them. I think a lot of people can relate to the character inside the poem and wants to help them, because they have been through the same situation they have been through. I love here also how you bring a lot of person touch to the poem, yet you still have a lot of metaphors that play off each other well. This poem speaks volumes about what someone feels when they go through a tragic event, 5/5
