Life is not over

by Dagmar Wilson   Mar 3, 2019

Your love was plain
like waves in shallow water,
lifeless.

I was hungry
craving human touch,
you've robbed me of my basics.
Misery would not stop.

Time was finally on my side
I aimed for the door,
freedom.

That first deep breath
my lungs were releasing bubbles,
life is not over.

I feel just an ounce of the anguish in this piece but more so, that you have found your voice and in it, freedom. Another chance at life, at finding and being and embracing yourself without your worth or any aspect of you being compromised.

I can almost imagine that joyous lungful of air, Dagmar, after being suffocated.
Wonderful metaphors throughout and I particularly like the first stanza.

    All the very best
