Musings At Midnight

by Brenda   May 21, 2019

I miss the night sky...
The real sky at night
billions of stars
alive in inky blackness.
Not this faded version
the city lights
create....
-
I miss the feeling
I get
staring up into this vastness.
A mixture of insignificance
and awe
of how small we actually are-
A feeling of empowerment
that anything's possible...
-
A continual ying and yang
I've lived my life as.
Insignificance
Empowerment
As clear as the night sky
without city lights
muddying my vision...
-
I want to be that star
brightly shining.
A beacon of light
for a weary traveler,
guiding them home....
-
I feel though
more often than not-
I've lit up the sky
but briefly
fading into the inky darkness,
missed by most
in the muddy depths
of a city sky....

So much can be lost in a city life, nothing
like been one with nature and marvel the
beauty and be blessed we have all these

I have slept on a mountainside in Snowdonia with nothing but a sleeping bag and the night sky covering me. There was not a light to be seen from a town or vehicle and not a noise to be heard apart from a little stream trickling nearby. Apart from learning how cold you can be at times like those, I truly did learn the insignificance of all the petty things in our lives and just how significant all the important things were. My point is, I get this write and love it.

    Take care
