We all hurt in different ways

by Walter   May 27, 2019

We are only human
With lessons to be learned
But too often consequences
Will leave us feeling burned

Everyone has their ways
Of trying to cope with life
And so often self-inflicted
Like a double sided knife

Since right from our birth
We instinctively know to cry
Our mothers always save us
As they are standing by

Somewhere this is lost
When we pass from young to old
With no one left besides us
To try and face the cold

Everybody’s different
With what they have been through
Just be careful before you judge
Because they are not like you

That quiet girl at school
You and your friends would always tease
But of course you had no idea
Her step dad was a sleaze

The lady with which you work
You would smirk at what she'd wear
Though a single mother of three
Has no money left to spare

The man who drinks alone
The whole bottle he would pour
A soldier who fought for our country
Still fights his private war

The woman you'll often notice
With her appearance she takes no pride
If only you knew how much she misses
Her husband who just died

Be grateful you're living life
And no problems you are fazed
But please remember when pain is felt
We all hurt in different ways

So very true Walter, so very true. But yet we continue to judge from what we see, not what we know. Well done-

Thanks Brenda and yes, I think we have all been guilty of this at some point. And thanks so much for nominating :)

    Walter,
An excellent rhyming piece, that carries a powerful message about life and people can easily judge others. We all make judgements, part of our human make-up, however, its when people make judgements intentionally, which generally is a reflection of them in some cases.
    Nice write fella, M :)
