Facing East (for Larry's dream travel contest)

by CJ Maleney   Jun 11, 2019

It is not a place I dream about,
Never had any desire to go.
There are no lakes for me to paddle,
Not big rivers that will flow.

I find myself drawn to this land,
That does not know what it could be.
A land ravaged by the acts of man,
A complete catastrophe.

Yet I find my feet are ready,
I prepare as best one can,
And I know that I'll be humbled
For I am just another man.

A man with who's made mistakes.
Who can't forget the past.
Will this new land that i shall call my home,
Bring some kind of peace that lasts.

The hot wind shall be my river,
The desert shall be my sea.
I shall immerse myself completely.
Let sands of time wash over me.

A hopeful write which also admits the wrongs done but
is willing to take that chance and move forward and be happy with
whatever comes. The rhyme and flow of the read is smooth
which makes this poem a lovely one to read!

Facing east is a real crossroads. Decisions are never easy, but one thing for sure, life will never be the same again.
    Good luck.

I think this is beautifully written and well rhymed. it has that wonderful element of hope running through it that even one man can maybe make a difference. Loved it Milly x

      Thanks Mills.

still don't know if it's gonna come off. It's a bit of waiting game unfortunately. Guess that's the way it is with multi national companies.
