Verse of thoughts

by Meena Krish   May 7, 2020

I ache to sleep upon your lips
let the warmth spread across the terrain
for memories to sprout,

But with you there and me here
I lay silver feelings upon a white road
and close my heart

....hoping the shadows will kill
me and you inside this verse
of thoughts

In dreams we can slip into a private world and experience what is hidden in our heart. There we can have what we want for a moment. But reality bumps us from the dream to shake us of those feelings and lay them aside for a time. And heartache rushes in with loneliness to replace the dream. It was beautiful Meena

I've missed reading your poetry, dear Meena! There was a tenderness here, a yearning despite the separation and distance, and almost this dream-like state of having to endure the absence of new memories.

Bittersweet poems are hard to read emotionally. You did well with your metaphors and real message with this though. The first stanza is filled with hope and loneliness. As i read it, it feels like you are wishing for love or reconnection with this person. Not only physically but emotionally.

You want to make new memories with them. But they are far away. Them being far away makes you hard to trust anyone. So your heart is closed off.

I love the feelings you present in the first two stanzas, it's almost like a downward spiral of sorts.

It is a perfect denouement to the poem as a whole, because you show the reader your trustest feelings and you wrap up the first two stanzas perfectly. You want to remove this person from your emotional body.
