Roots

by Gracy Judith   Sep 24, 2020

when failure befalls,
why do you ache
in heavy strokes of despair
and don
all the synonyms of pain?
the sunshine
and rain
in you
are capable
of raising flowers.
the roots
should never have to
apologize
for the magic
you carry
in your veins
but don’t know
of yet.

I'm so glad this is nominated. I'm not sure how I didn't read this till now but wow.

I've been absolutely floored since reading the opening lines

    "when failure befalls,
    why do you ache
    in heavy strokes of despair
    and don
    all the synonyms of pain?"

    like !!!

I really hope to see this on the front page
