Second Chance

by Andrea   Feb 15, 2005

The blood seems to blur my vision
Never before have I witnessed so much crimson
There her lifeless body lies in the puddle
Her vicious pain is now no longer hidden

Two hours before her horrible fate
She received a phone call of misfortune
Her friends deserted her; alone she is left
The pain they caused, they’ll know soon

The razor calls out to her so loudly
Her tears dampen her sad face
The music is turned up to hide her screams
Fear is done waiting for her to chase

In the bathroom, lying in the tub
The warm water seems to be so clear
Until her arms draw fresh blood
And her wounds re-open; death is near

She pauses to stare and take one last look
Her life began to flash before her eyes
Gently she closed them…
No more will you hear her silent cries

The doorbell rang countless times
Impatiently waiting stood her lover
He wanted to apologize for his mistake
That he lied and he doesn’t want another

Sneaking in from her bedroom window
He notices the water running onto the carpet
Hastily he opens the bathroom door
And what he sees is something he let

The sirens came in such a hurry
But everything seemed to be in slow motion
None were quick enough to save her
Regret and pain is felt like an evil potion

I stood there watching him hold me up
So I wouldn’t drown in my bloody water
Guilt came rushing to me like a thousand knives
Maybe he really did love me like no other

He cried so loudly wanting to be alone
The music still playing, he sang softly
Our song from our first dance and our last
His voice filled with sadness because of me

I can only watch him, as I am ashamed
The thought of leaving now crushes my heart so
Kneeling to my knees, I cry for another chance
I still feel my soul in my lifeless body he holds

A bright light flashes and the sight is gone
My body and my lover holding it have disappeared
Opening my eyes I am in a bed
Awoken to our song and to you quite near

You stopped humming and a warm smile came
I try to speak but you hush my words
With a stunning kiss, we both return grins
In love there is always a second chance….

Or so I’ve heard!
