A Lonely Moon

by Princess Love   Mar 23, 2006

Staring at the starlit sky a lonely moon I see
Standing all by himself staring back at me

Guarded by the countless stars he stands alone
Looking for something or someone to call his own

As far as he can see its only the endless sky
There is no one anywhere to stand by his side

So alone all by himself he cries all night long
Loneliness and emptiness is what he calls his own

Dark sky and grey clouds are all he can see
Wonders, why cant anyone ever be with me

The pain of loneliness is just too much to bear
Thinking of this emptiness his eyes fill with tears

Staring at the lonely moon his pain I can feel
Because I see my own reflection staring back at me

The imagery was excellent. And the words easily portrayed the lonliness aspect quite well along with the metaphor/personification of the moon. Nicely done with all of it. Really this had been a cool write because it was beautiful and just...really an excellent concept.

This reminds me of a song I heard once-same concept. I love the theme, and the poem is simply too incredible for words. Excellent job!
