Trading Places

If you were me and I was you,
Could you handle being ill?
Having to swallow handfuls of pills?
Would you just sit on the couch,
wishing to die?
Maybe just close your eyes and cry.
If I was you, I know what I would do,
I would walk and walk and walk,
I would walk so much, I wouldn't have time,
to stop and talk.
I'd walk to the lake,
To catch a spring breeze.
I'd be able to walk ,
On the beach with ease.
I'd look out on the water,
With it's gentle waves.
Watch the sunset,
Orange, pinks and grays.
I'd listion to the birds,
Singing from the trees.
I'd look at the flowers,
And watch the bees.
If you were me, would you sit and wait,
For a knock at the door,
hoping someone would come,
to reach something you dropped on the floor.
Would you cry from the loneliness and pain,
Hoping the phone would ring,
Waiting in vain.
Would you wake up at night,
finding yourself alone,
wishing somebody would come home.
Would you talk to the dogs,
and consider them friends?
Would you fight my disease,
with all your might?
If I was you
I would Thank God everyday,
for keeping me healthy,
And giving me knees so I could pray.

Now that is a poem that everyone should read before judging others. Especially at this time of year..
You write so strongly and powerfully with such in-depth message in your words.
I can only hope that one day i'll be as good as you =)
