Standing By Me

by Cindy   Feb 13, 2007

Why do we to have fight?
When all I do is love you
I feel you're against me
Finding fault in what I do

I just want to have peace
For us to always get along
I can see that you are tired
You always feel I am wrong

Seeing how hard you work
Long hours to just get by
Going without your sleep
This really makes me cry

Wishing I could work again
Easing these burdens on you
Yet fate took it all from me
There was nothing I could do

For you I wanted better
As long as I shall live
I will try to make it easier
With everything I can give

One day I will be gone
There will be no regrets
You have stood by my side
This I'll never ever forget

Written for my son who works 24hr shifts as a paramedic. He has stood by me since the death of his father. Thank you son. I love you.

This was such a bittersweet dedication.
I'm sure it meant a lot to your son, and I hope things get easier for you soon!

This is a very beautiful poem dedicated to your son, theres no love like the love between a parent and their children, and your son is a good man for being there for his family. I really enjoyed this poem, it was beautifully written.

Wow. I really loved reading this poem. YOu did a very good job. The style kind of reminded me of my own, and when I read other poems done this way, it makes it that much more enjoyable. Thank-you and keep writing.
