Please Say Gay.

by Poet on the Piano   Apr 22, 2022

As a scared child,
you were never told it was
okay to be you.

If only a voice
had given you more courage,
you'd be better now.

But you are older,
mourning a lost childhood,
regaining your voice.

"You are safe with me.
You will not be forgotten.
I will fight for you."

There is a fright, a confusion and realization all wrapped in this write with pain as a backdrop...

Nicely penned and way to go!

Ugh. I love this. There is so much power and pain in this. Nothing feels harder than trying to heal a wounded inner child, to fix the cracks that have remained and still bleed in our adulthood. Or even just acknowledging its presence and trying to grow from there when wounds cannot be fixed. But is a beautiful fight, nonetheless. Now is the time to be entirely, irrevocably you. Great write, Elliott.
