Lock and Key

Words hover on trembling lips
While the heart yearns for a love
That lights a fire with a bittersweet twist -
One forbidden yet nurtured in the heavens above.

I mustn't speak the thoughts that run rampant in a mind
So dark, and yet, you are the starlight to my onyx coated,
Ever taunting and elegantly devilish sky -
To my tortured silence, I am waveringly devoted.

My soul begs me to release this demon of untold care,
But I am unable to give in to the pressures I hold to myself;
You are a whimsical treasure, an imp amongst a forest - so rare -
To maintain your soft presence in my life, I am deeply compelled.

Sapphire eyes house my heartbreakingly painful secret,
A truth I shall utter to you one day,
But for now, I must keep it under lock and key,
And simply notate how the love beautifully intensifies each day.
