All I feel is hurt, anger, and pain
And the unending tears...
A brisk haze lingers on the Somme before daybreak
Silhouettes parade in ritual fashion...
You blanket me and refuse to leave
So rude and unwelcome...
I hide within a smile
A forceful action...
And here we are once again,
apart from each other...
Too tired to think straight
Too tired to be effective...
I awake from my sleep to
see angels standing at the window...
I hate this facade I'm forced to wear
In reality I'm lost and in despair...
You clawed away at my masks
Layer after layer had been shed...
Day dreaming,
I'm zoning in and out...
In the arms of a stranger
I was seeking comfort not knowing...
Broken, empty, bruised and battered
Gone away has all that mattered...
